The “Walk with Ease” program is an evidence-based exercise initiative designed to help individuals improve their overall health and manage pain through regular walking. It offers participants strategies for building up their walking stamina, reducing pain, and staying motivated, making it suitable for individuals of all fitness levels, including those with arthritis or other joint issues.
The program typically involves group walks, educational sessions, and support to encourage a healthy, active lifestyle. The “Walk with Ease” program is designed as a six-week program, with participants meeting three times a week for group walking sessions.
Program Goals:
- Increase Physical Activity: Encourage participants to engage in regular walking, which can improve cardiovascular health, muscle strength, and endurance.
- Manage Pain and Stiffness: Help participants reduce pain, stiffness, and fatigue associated with arthritis or other chronic conditions through low-impact exercise.
- Improve Mobility and Flexibility: Enhance participants’ range of motion, balance, and overall flexibility, making daily activities easier to perform.
- Build Confidence: Empower participants with the knowledge and skills to safely continue walking and other physical activities independently.
Group-Setting: Participants join group sessions led by a trained leader who provides guidance on walking techniques, warm-up and cool-down exercises, and strategies for managing pain. Each session usually lasts about 45-60 minutes, including walking time and educational components. The group setting offers social support and motivation, making it easier for participants to stay committed.

- Program Length: 6 weeks
- Sessions per Week: 3 sessions (totaling 18 sessions)
